Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data SEAGrowthHub collects, why, and what you can do about it. We keep the data we collect to the minimum the site needs.
1. Who we are
SEAGrowthHub (seagrowthhub.com) is an English-language publication on tech and business growth for readers in Southeast Asia. In this policy "we" means SEAGrowthHub. You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@seagrowthhub.com.
2. What we collect
Contact form
If you write to us through the contact form, we collect your name, email address, the type of enquiry you choose, and your message.
Newsletter
SEAGrowthHub does not run a newsletter at the moment and does not collect email addresses for one. If we launch a newsletter, we will update this policy before we start collecting sign-ups.
Technical and visit data
When you submit a form, we also record technical data about the visit that led to it: your approximate location (country and city, derived from your IP address), your IP address, device type, browser, the website that referred you, and any campaign parameters in the link you used (such as utm_source). We use this to understand which sources bring readers who get in touch.
Analytics
If analytics is switched on and you accept it, Google Analytics 4 collects data about how pages are used, for example pages viewed, approximate location, and device information. See Cookies below.
3. How we use your data
- To answer your message and to keep a record of the conversation.
- To understand which pages and sources work, so we can improve the site.
- To protect the site against spam and abuse.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. Your consent and our legal basis
For contact messages, we process your data because you asked us to reply. Where we rely on your consent, such as for analytics cookies, you can withdraw it at any time. This policy is written to meet Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and the Philippines Data Privacy Act of 2012, the two regimes most relevant to our readers; where another country's law gives you additional rights, we will respect them.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
- Visit-origin cookie (
sgh_asal). A first-party cookie, kept for up to 30 days, that remembers which page and source first brought you to the site (the referrer and any campaign parameters). It is used only so that, if you later write to us, we know which source led to it. It does not contain your name or email. - Google Analytics 4. When it is switched on, it only loads after you accept it in the cookie notice. If you decline, it does not load. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage and you can clear it at any time.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them.
6. Affiliate and tracking links
Some links in our articles are affiliate links (see our affiliate disclosure). They go through our own tracking links, which record that a click happened, the article it came from, and basic technical data such as approximate location and device type, so we can count clicks. After you click, the website you land on is run by another company and has its own privacy policy and cookies, which we do not control.
7. Who we share data with
We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They process data on our instructions:
- Hosting: Vercel (the site is served from the Singapore region).
- Database: Supabase (contact messages and visit data are stored in a database in Singapore).
- Internal notifications: when you send a contact message, a notification with its content is sent to our team through a messaging service.
- Email: the mailbox provider we use to read and answer your messages.
- Analytics: Google, only if you accept analytics cookies.
Some of these providers may process data outside Singapore and the Philippines. We only use providers that apply appropriate safeguards. We may also disclose data when the law requires it.
8. How long we keep it
- Contact messages: for as long as needed to answer you and keep a record, and no longer than 24 months unless we need them longer for a legal reason.
- Visit-origin cookie: up to 30 days.
9. Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it, and you can withdraw any consent you have given at any time. Email hello@seagrowthhub.com from the address concerned and we will reply, normally within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live, for example the Personal Data Protection Commission (Singapore) or the National Privacy Commission (Philippines).
10. Children
SEAGrowthHub is written for working adults. It is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
11. Security
The site is served over HTTPS and access to the database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so if we learn of a breach that affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
12. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change, and change the date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the site.
